Mind State: A Sophisticated Interior Design

Creating Elegance and Harmony in Tainan

Elegance, endurance, and natural serenity come together in the exquisite interior design of Mind State, a residence in Tainan, Taiwan. Designed by Yuan-Ting Chuang and Jui-Wen Cheng of TONGYU Space Design CO., Ltd., this project showcases the harmonious blend of nature-inspired elements with graceful colors, smooth layouts, and delicate materials.

The unique properties of Mind State lie in its attention to detail and the contrast between elements. The delicate grains of the marble wall and the dynamic wall behind the sofa exemplify the contrast between action and quiescence. The design focuses on the altering heights of ceilings and materials, showcasing the evolution of spaces. The dining room and kitchen island act as consistent standards applicable throughout the house. The changing combinations of materials, including natural dyed wood veneers, mirrors, and marbles, exhibit delicate textures that add depth and character to the design.

The realization of Mind State involved the use of various materials such as natural water-dyed steel brush iron knife veneer, white oak solid wood steel plate, imitation stone medium-density fiberboard, natural marble, baking varnish glass, imported wallpaper, crepe, iron, gray glass, and black mirror. These materials were carefully selected and skillfully integrated to bring the designer's vision to life.

Spanning an area of 250 square meters, Mind State offers a unique living experience that seamlessly blends with nature. The designer aimed to simulate natural landscapes within the residence, creating a spatial communication between trees and the ocean that is both alluring and calming for the family.

The design project for Mind State was completed in May 2018 in Tainan City, Taiwan. Throughout the process, the design team faced creative, technical, and research challenges, but their dedication and expertise resulted in a remarkable fusion of cunning, balmy, fashion, and natural elements. The design styles showcased in Mind State are both pragmatic and aesthetic, making it a truly exceptional work of art.

Mind State has been recognized for its excellence and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate outstanding ingenuity, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. Mind State contributes to quality of life improvements, making the world a better place.
